    Tokuyuu sensei, I have a question regarding my studies. Due to immense pressure from my exams, I’ve had my tonsils infected three times, which has affected my ability to study. Despite this, I managed to maintain a 192-day study streak, but now I have many reviews stacked up. I am currently studying different decks ranging from N5 to N2 for vocabulary and kanji. I have a solid understanding of the N5 and N4 levels in both vocab and kanji, but the N3 vocabulary deck is overwhelming. I’ve studied more new cards than I’ve reviewed, so I still have about 70% of the cards to review. Adding to my problems, I also started studying for N2, which has increased the pressure. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of material I need to study each day. My N3 kanji deck is particularly troublesome because I started new cards and reviewed only the previous three days’ kanji. I didn’t review them in Anki, resulting in many unreviewed cards. Should I stop studying the new N2 deck and focus on the older decks? What should I do with my N5 and N4 decks, which I’ve been reviewing for a long time? Will I have to keep reviewing them forever? Additionally, I made the mistake of focusing so much on vocabulary and kanji that I neglected grammar. As a result, I struggle to understand sentences. I recently bought Tae Kim’s grammar book and both the Dictionary of Basic and Intermediate Japanese Grammar. I feel lost and unsure of how to proceed. How should I structure my studies moving forward, and what grammar books should I study later? Please help me, Sensei. I am in a very tight spot and worried that if I make more wrong decisions, I will fall behind like many other students. By the way, I got a new Japanese name: 霊青山, which I read as れいあおやま. What do you think of this name? I currently study Japanese for about 1.5 hours a day. Please guide me. I want to pass N1. Do you think I can achieve that one day? Please wish for me so I don’t fail like the 90% of Japanese students.

    Particles are the most amazing thing of Japanese' grammar, as they're extremely and much more consistent than prepositions in English. So if you say nonsense such as "They'll ruin ur life" then you certainly haven't got yet their nature and amazing qualities as a guideline in any complexer sentences, which would be a brutal mess to identify without them. Just kindly try not to indirectly badmouthing this very well thought-out core-concept of Japanese. Never forget it is still the way how Japanese is being taught in the West that "ruins your life", not the language from its own point, as it is consistent as heck - the particles are either. So Tae Kim was right in many aspects.

    1:17 .. 寿司を食べます does not mean "The sushi is being eaten", as you effectively create a passive sentence within such a formulation where the sushi acts as the subject, while in reality it is the object marked by を. "The sushi is being eaten" is the continuous/progressive passive form expressed in "られている/られています" which targets the subject marked by が, not the object by を, so the sentence would be 寿司が食べられてい[る/ます]. 寿司を食べます means "[∅] eat(s) sushi" where ∅ is the context-related, implicit subject such as "I".

    And when they say "teach English", it is a jok eis you a re a licensed teacher . And the work culture you are talking about in Japan is very common for the US (if you have a salaried job). If you work hourly, in the US, working is so easy. I and my friends worked at a online company hourly (US$35/hour). So, that would depend on your job. I had worked at a funeral home for US$45/hour that was really easy but you have to deal with dead bodies all day. The other easy way to get a job in Japan is to use a high quality headhunter. Good luck.

    I'm surprised to learn that 松 is considered to be a N1-kanji. Since I studied in the order of kyouiku kanji (the order that elementary school students learn kanji) and learned it in grade 4. So, it's actually one of the most basic kanji despite being in the N1-list.

    • @TokuyuuTV
      @TokuyuuTV 11 дней назад

      Yeah, sometimes the JLPT kanji ordering is questionable. Like even 暑 is N1… At least 松 is only really used in names so it’s less common, but i often felt like I should’ve learned certain kanji earlier 😂

    I'm here to share my Japanese learning journey. I found this channel six months into studying and have been learning for over two years now. I’ve unofficially passed the JLPT N1 using Mazii practice tests. While not fluent, I understand most spoken and written Japanese, though speaking is still a challenge due to limited active immersion. I’ve studied all N1 kanji using Anki and retain about 1,500. I'm grateful that I found your channel early on, watched your whole playlist and blindly followed your tips. It has made my Japanese learning journey a lot more realistic, fun, and enjoyable.

I thought about continuing with French but I've decided to start learning Japanese instead. About 5 years ago, I tried (failed) and gave up pretty quickly, I also consume a LOT of Japanese media - mainly things that are vocoloid related. I also would like to travel to Japan one day and not be a lost tourist. I've recently started learning Katagana and it's pretty exciting to begin recognising characters in Japanese writing. Since I knew that I wanted to take it seriously, I was thinking abojt where to start and was pretty lost so thank you for this video, it's been helpful! :D
